With hearts full of gratitude and love, we announce the passing of our beloved Susan Antoinette Roethke (née Robertson) of Menomonie, Wisconsin, who passed away peacefully on May 30, surrounded by her family.

Sue was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and joyful spirit touched all who knew her.

Born on February 24, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sue was the daughter of Dewain and Merrille Robertson. She married Edward Roethke, the love of her life, in 1966 in Northeast Minneapolis. In 1968, they made their home in Menomonie, where they raised their son, Edward, and daughter, Leigh. Sue retired from the Menomonie School District in 2001 after seventeen years of dedicated service as an administrative assistant.

Sue was a devoted wife and mother who could always be found cheering at hockey games and proudly sharing stories and photographs of her children and grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with family and friends, and her table was always a gathering place filled with laughter, good food, and love. She loved to host family and friends, showing her love by baking pies and her famous coconut cake. Sue never forgot a birthday and made every holiday feel special. She cultivated beauty in her gardens, enjoyed reading, watching birds outside her window, photographing her flowers, and finding just the right outfit. She looked forward to annual trips to Door County with Ed and their friends and treasured the time spent chatting with her ladies. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit were evident in every aspect of her life.

Sue is survived by her husband Edward, her son Edward (Jennifer), her daughter Leigh (John), her grandchildren Lindsay (Zack), Allison, Ryan, Bram, and Ruari, her great-grandson Brooks, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim, and her sister Sally.

A memorial service celebrating Sue's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Father John Mano officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be served afterward.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dunn County Humane Society or to a charity or a cause that reminds you of Sue.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice, Aveanna Home Health, Visiting Angels, and Mayo Clinic Health System for their compassionate care and support.

May Sue rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and cherished memories.
