Ronald “Ron” J. Koenig, age 81, of Cameron, WI, formerly of Menomonie, WI, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Barron Care & Rehab in Barron, WI.
Ron was born to parents Clarence and Lorraine (Yoder) Koenig and grew up in the Menomonie area. He graduated from Menomonie High School and married the love of his life, June Lorenz, on June 5, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard. Ron enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He especially loved fishing for sunfish, bluegill, and crappies, and found peace watching wildlife from the picture window of his home. Living by the lake brought him great joy, and he took pride in keeping an immaculate lawn and feeding the deer and squirrels who visited his yard.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, June; daughters Connye Hoppe Kegen and Cindy Hoppe, whom he helped raise; granddaughter September Lynn Kegen (Brian); and grandson Jared Kegen (Tyla). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Crystel Atwood (Karl), Wayne Lorenz (Deb), Kevin Evenson, and Tammy Toll (Dave); cousins Kay Strom (Dale), Connie Bauer, Augie Ziehl Jr. and Del Yoder. He is further survived by many great and great great grand nieces and nephews as well as other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle Bob (Pauline) Koenig; son-in-law Jeff Kegen; parents-in-law Russell and Florence Lorenz; and siblings-in-law Wayne and Gloria Lorenz, and Alice and Billy Evenson.
As per Ron’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Hay River Cemetery in the town of Hay River, Dunn County, Wisconsin.
