Roger Mark Hillestad, age 67 of Durand, died Friday, February 6, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire surrounded by his family.
Roger was born December 28, 1958 in Menomonie. He graduated from Menomonie High School. After graduation, Roger enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. He went on to acquire an undergraduate degree from UW-Eau Claire and a Doctorate of Law Degree from Hamline University in 1987 and had practiced law ever since.
Roger married Nancy Brightbill on October 13, 1990.
Roger’s lifelong passion of brewing beer turned into establishing the Durand Brewing Company in 2019. He enjoyed spending time with the customers and explaining the brewing process. Roger looked forward to hunting and hosting deer camp every year. He was an avid Packer fan and had many Packer Parties through the years in his garage bar.
Roger is survived by his children, Mark and Mary, sisters, Marlys Simmons, Marcia Krause and Julie Anderson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hillestad, sister, Jan (Bill) Page and his parents, Clarence and Lenore Hillestad.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00PM-6:00PM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at The Durand Brewing Company, N6649 State Hwy 25, Durand, WI 54736.
