Robert Richard Prinsen “Bob” of Menomonie, Wisconsin passed on April 6th, 2026 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Bob was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on June 7th, 1946 to Benjamin and Geneva (Platson) Prinsen. He attended Broadview Country Grade School and then later Glenwood City High School where he graduated in 1964.

After high school, Bob farmed with his dad and had a farm deferment from being drafted. But after seeing so many of his friends drafted and sent to Vietnam, he felt he needed to enlist and joined the Army in 1966 where they trained him as a dental assistant and sent him to Missouri, Texas, and Georgia. He was never sent to Vietnam which was a fact he often seemed embarrassed about. His time in the Army ended on April 11th, 1968 and he returned to the farm in Wilson, Wisconsin that he grew up on and began dairy farming again.

On January 22nd, 1977, he married Myrna Crane in Wheeler, Wisconsin. Together, they raised their five children on the farm he grew up on and where the two of them continued to live until 2023 when they sold the farm and relocated to Menomonie.

Bob loved politics, gardening, following all sports, spending time with his family, making jokes to shock people and make them laugh (especially about his “so-called” mental issues), playing tricks on his wife to get a reaction from her. Bob and his sense of humor, “love of Wheeler” and passion for politics will be missed every day.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Geneva Prinsen, his brothers Myron, and Gary, his father-in-law Myron Crane, brother-in-law Raymond Crane, sisters-in-law Myra Flug, and Leila Krosnoski.

He is survived by his daughters Bobbie Krueger, Bethany Schneider, Breanne (Paul) Berning, and by his sons Brady and Ryan (Emily Egan), grandchildren Kaylianna and Mykenzie Krueger (Aaron Edwards), Jocelyn Schleicher (Jake), Whitney Carroll (Justin Ball), Trevelyan Schneider (Amelia Zech), Ashton Fallon, Dominick, Chase, Mason, and Jordyn Berning, Ayden, Parker, and Liam Prinsen, brothers-in-law Rod Flug and Merle (Bev) Crane, mother-in-law Betty (McIntyre) Crane, his aunt Molly Woolhouse, Marvel Simmons, Patsy Crane, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and four very important people Jason Schneider, Jennifer Prinsen, Nick and Shania Adams, and his “darn good puppy” Bella.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11th at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Wheeler. Visitation will be 1 hr prior to the service with a lunch to follow. Burial will take place at a later date at Hay River Cemetery, Township of Hay River, Dunn County.
