With the school year starting, we want to remind everyone about our SAM (Share-A-Meal) program!
Project SAM (Share-A-Meal) is our weekend kids' meal program in Dunn County.
Similar to 'backpack' programs throughout the country, bags of ready-to-eat and easy to prepare food is provided to school children at risk of hunger on the weekends.
SAM bags are packed with snacks, drinks, and food items as we have available with funds and donations. We try to provide satisfying and nutritious options the best we can.
Stepping Stones began this program in Fall 2012 with 100 students at one school.
SAM has grown to more than 500 children at ten local schools, serving children and youth from Head Start through high school.
Families wishing to sign their kids up for the program can talk with their student's teacher or school office.
This program takes community support though...
Through our partners and programs, it takes $1 to pack 1 SAM bag for a student.
For $75, we can provide weekend meal bags for a student for the entire school year!
If you wish to help support SAM and other Stepping Stones programs, you may mail in or drop off a cash or check donation.
A receipt will be given to you at the time of the donation (or will be mailed back).
