Olivia A. Sundby, age 48 of Menomonie, WI passed away February 16, 2026 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born July 22, 1977 to parents Michael and Jeanne (Schlottman) Wendt in Brookfield, WI.
In high school, Olivia met the love of her life, Steven. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter and were blessed with their son, Cooper, who was the center of Olivia’s world and her greatest joy.
Olivia had a true gift for serving others. She graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College and dedicated 20 years of her career to nursing at Mayo. She spent the last three years working for SafteyCall International. She was so happy to call SafteyCall home. Her compassion, steady presence, and commitment to her patients reflected the kind of person she was. Even during her own illness, she remained devoted to the healthcare profession she loved.
Liv fought breast cancer not once, but twice. She faced each diagnosis with remarkable boldness and unwavering bravery. Rather than retreating, she chose to share her journey openly, offering hope, honesty, and encouragement to everyone she met. Olivia’s strength inspired many, and her willingness to tell her story became a light for those who needed it most.
During this past year, the support of Olivia’s friends and family was beyond measure and meant more than words can express. Olivia loved “big” and they returned that “big love” back to her. Olivia was deeply grateful to receive her latest rounds of chemotherapy treatments in Menomonie and for the loving care provided by all, but especially her cousin, Jody.
Olivia is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steve; her son, Cooper; her parents, Michael and Jeanne; and her sister, Danielle Wendt. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Janet Wendt, Louren and Mae Schlottman, and other beloved relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Cooper’s future, the Dunn County Humane Society, or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Celebrant Teresa Pejsa Officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Tramway Cemetery in Menomonie, WI.
