The Menomonie Middle School has a few students in need of flutes and clarinets. If you have either of these that you would be willing to donate, please contact Tina Potter at the Menomonie Middle School at 715-232-1673.

Menomonie native Jason Dea West will be performing at the Mabel Tainter on September 5th. Here's a story about Jason from Volume One. Tickets are still available and can be found in this post.

School zones can be chaotic. Students, parents, teen drivers, crossing guards, bicyclists, buses, and a lot of traffic can cause dangerous situations. Here are some reminders for motorists and students navigating school zones:

Drivers:

  • Adhere to speed limits

  • Scan the road, watch for students

  • Stay patient

  • Follow instructions of crossing guards

  • Buckle Up Phone Down

Pedestrians:

  • Stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks

  • Look both ways before crossing roads

Caregivers of teen drivers:

  • Talk with your kids about the importance of safe driving when entering and exiting school parking lots

Here’s a reminder on what the different colored lights on a school bus indicate and what you should do if they’re flashing:

Amber Warning Lights: The school bus is about to stop. Slow down and prepare to stop.

Red Warning Lights: Stop at least 20 feet from the bus whether approaching from either direction. The only exception is if you are traveling on the other side of a divided road that’s separated by a median or other physical barrier.

From the Dunn County Humane Society Facebook page: We’re running low on some essentials and could use a little help stocking back up! Donations can be dropped off any day of the week between 8 AM and 6 PM, or sent to 302 Brickyard Road, Menomonie, WI 54751.
