Kent “Radar” Cran, age 62, of Wheeler, WI died unexpectedly Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his home.
He was born August 21, 1963 in Eau Claire, WI to Lew and Lynda (Glenz) Cran. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1981.
After High School, Radar joined the Army and attended basic training at Ft. Leonardwood in Missouri. After basic training, he was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington state. He worked in hydraulic maintenance, servicing Chinook helicopters.
It was during his time there that he developed a deep love for that part of the country and always said if he ever moved away from Wisconsin, it would be for the Pacific Northwest.
Radar married Connie Montwill on November 14, 1989 while on vacation in South Dakota. They laid down their roots in Menomonie and together they had three children, Cayci, Briar, and Cole. Radar worked in the manufacturing industry as a Fabricator the majority of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all things Hunting and Fishing. Radar especially loved sharing those hobbies with his son, son-in-law and grandsons. While he may have reserved those hobbies for the boys, Radar was an exceptional “girl Grandpa”. He was often praised by his granddaughters for his thoughtful gift-giving abilities, his keen fashion sense and always being up-to-date on the latest and greatest in pop culture.
Radar is survived by his mother Lynda Cran of Menomonie; Daughter Cayci (Doug) Nelson of Glenwood City and Son Briar (Kaycie) Cran of Elk Mound. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Kaden, Reid, Cole, Taylor, Karter and Kru, as well many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
