Joyce went to her Heavenly home on February 10, 2026.


She was born to Gertrude and Vernon Homer on July 22, 1935 in Menomonie, WI. She graduated from MHS in the class of 1953 and worked at Wisconsin Milling Co.


In 1954 she married John R. Keller. They moved to Virginia where John was in the military. Joyce worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and after moving back to Menomonie she worked at the Memorial Hospital. In later years she became a Medical Technologist and worked at the Amery Hospital for 25 years.


She met A. Carl Newton in Amery and they married in 1981. They moved to Menomonie in 1990. After Carl’s death she married James B. Klatt of Menomonie in 2012. They enjoyed their winters in North Fort Myer’s, FL.


Joyce is survived by her children Jeffrey (Joanne) Keller of Menomonie, WI and Julie (Andy) Olson of Golden, MS; grandchildren Sara (Josh) Hoover and Michael (Hannah) Keller, Tim Olson and Jennifer Olson; four great-grandchildren Isabella and Katelyn Hoover, Khloe and Grant Keller.


She is also survived by Carl’s children Barbara (Paul) Framsted of Aurora, CO, Terrie (John) Murtha of Baldwin, WI; Peg (John) Kuhl of Amery, WI, Linda (Jay) Wittstock of Balsam Lake, WI, Betty (Jay) Monson of Clear Lake, WI; daughter-in-law Andrea Newton of Amery, WI, and sons-in-law Terry Gifford and Jeff Knutson. Carl’s twenty grandchildren and 42.5 great-grandchildren. James Klatt’s daughter Marsha Biggs of Colfax, WI and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Betty Lou Fuhrman of Chippewa Falls and brother Ken (Carolyn) Homer of Menomonie. She is further survived many nieces, nephews and cousins.


She was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude and Vernon Homer, her sister Lois Homer, brother-in-law Lorn Fuhrman, husbands’ Carl Newton and James Klatt, Carl's son Daniel Newton and Carl’s daughters’ Patricia Knutson and Jean Gifford, Carl’s great-grandson Jaxson Hoffman. James’ daughter Diane Bartos and James’ son-in-law Bill Biggs. Joyce will be remembered for her love of golfing, walking the beach looking for sharks’ teeth, playing bocce ball and of course her sense of style!


Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Oelhafen officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the spring at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Menomonie.
