Life and Family

James Arthur Dotseth, age 89, of Menomonie, WI, was welcomed into heaven on Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born on June 18, 1937, in Knapp, WI, to William and Henrietta (Stone) Dotseth. Jim grew up in Knapp, where he attended grade school, and graduated from Boyceville High School in the spring of 1956.

Jim entered the Army and served as a photographer. While on assignment in New Orleans, LA, he met Patricia Carlin. They were married on July 30, 1960, at Knapp Methodist Church and were blessed with four children.

Jim and Patricia operated a dairy and beef farm in Knapp until 1987. They later moved to Hudson, WI, where they built a new home, and Jim worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Erickson Diversified until his retirement in 2002. In retirement, Jim and Patricia enjoyed many years of leisure and travel, spending time at their home on Viola Lake in Webster and escaping the winter months in Prescott Valley, AZ.

Jim was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Lions Club in Knapp and Hudson for more than 25 years. He also helped provide the Fourth of July fireworks in Knapp for 20 years. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he was proud of their many activities and accomplishments.

His hobbies included snowmobiling, camping, fishing, managing his forests, woodturning, traveling, and attending tractor and gas engine shows. Through his passion for woodturning, Jim created many treasured pieces that he gifted and sold to people across the country.
