Ilene M. Steinmeyer, age 87, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed away June 17, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System–Red Cedar in Menomonie.


Ilene was born on October 4, 1938, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Reuben and Iona (Wilder) Siewert. She attended Jobs School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School.


She was united in marriage to Paul Steinmeyer and together they had three children.


Ilene had a passion for travel and enjoyed exploring both the United States and abroad. Throughout her life, she visited many states and several countries, including Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Australia, and New Zealand. She treasured the experiences and memories she made along the way.


A talented and creative homemaker, Ilene enjoyed sewing clothing and quilts, crocheting afghans, making deer stand cushions, and creating Barbie doll clothes for family and friends. Her handiwork reflected both her skill and the love she shared with those around her.


Ilene is survived by her children, Shawn (Monica) Steinmeyer and Shantel (Tony) Rogers; grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Polus, Alyssa Polus, and Lincoln May; and is further survived by many other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Steinmeyer; her parents, Reuben and Iona Siewert; her daughter, Stacy (Steinmeyer) Bixby; grandson, Justin May; and brother Richard Siewert.


She will be remembered for her kind heart, creativity, love of travel, and the care she showed through the many handmade gifts she gave to others.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, Wisconsin with Rev. Dale Moe officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Menomonie.
