THIN ICE WARNING – PLEASE USE CAUTION
We want to remind everyone that ice conditions remain extremely unsafe on local bodies of water. Over the past several days, multiple people have fallen through thin ice by Cemetery Bay on Lake Menomin. Thankfully, all were able to get out safely, but these incidents could have ended much differently.
No ice is ever 100% safe. Early-season ice can vary in thickness from one step to the next.
If you choose to venture out:
Carry a phone, ice picks, and a safety rope
Check ice frequently with a spud bar
Never go alone
Keep children and pets away from shoreline ice
Avoid driving vehicles onto the ice
Your safety is our priority. Please use good judgment and stay alert to changing conditions.
