Helen C. Larson age 85 of Menomonie, died Thursday December 4, 2025, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.
Helen was born January 13, 1940, in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marguerite (Dunn) Thorson and grew up in Menomonie. Helen graduated from Menomonie High School in 1958. After high school, Helen worked as Personnel Float, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN. In 1970, she returned to Menomonie and began working at the University of Wisconsin-Stout as a Personnel Float. This started her 30 year career with Stout. She held a few different secretarial positions at Stout but her favorite position was with the Dean of Students office.Â
Helen married Gary I. Larson November 18, 1972, in Menomonie at St. Joseph’s Rectory, with Rev. Charles Blecha officiating. After marriage they made their home in Menomonie and raised their family.
Helen enjoyed reading, gardening, watching the Green Bay Packers and drinking Miller Lite. Most of all Helen enjoyed spending time with her siblings, her husband and children, her grandchildren and her close friends.Â
Helen is survived by her children, Jolene (Allen) Miller of Menomonie, Matthew Larson of Menomonie; grandchildren, Brittany (Justin) Andrews, Hannah Larson and her stepbrother, Tanner Miller; grandchildren through Jolene and Allen’s marriage, Nicholas and Brooklyn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary and her six siblings, Art, Fran, Mary, Tommy, Margaret Ann, and Bobby.
The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at American Lutheran Homes and St Croix Hospice. We could not have made it through this without all your help and support.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church on Saturday.
