Governor approves regionwide I-94 bridge maintenance work

Project to seal decks, pier columns on more than 100 bridge structures on or over I-94 in Jackson, Trempealeau, Eau Claire, Dunn and St. Croix counties

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $331,036 contract with prime contractor Thunder Road of Waukesha for sealing decks and pier columns on more than 100 bridges on or over I-94 in St. Croix, Dunn, Eau Claire, Trempealeau and Jackson counties. Work is scheduled to start Sunday, June 8th.

The purpose of this project is to seal the existing bridge decks and pier columns to prevent water and salt from penetrating them and corroding the structures.

Work is expected to start at 6 p.m. nightly, Sundays through Thursdays, with crews working through the next morning. I-94 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures where work is being completed.

The work is weather dependent and scheduled for completion in late July.
