There is a lot happening with Dunn County 4-H!
Dunn County 4-H is thriving. They have seen an increase of 7% in enrollment from last year at this time. Some of the success of the program is due to its ability to provide positive, fun activities for its members, to prepare youth for the future and to provide new experiences for them through local partnerships.
According to Zachary Rozmiarek, the Dunn County 4-H educator, one focus of the 4-H Program is teaching community service. “We had this in mind when we started a County Wide Food Drive competition between the 4-H Clubs last year. The club who collects the most, wins.” Rozmiarek continued, “This is the second year that we are doing the Food Drive. Because there was great participation last year, we decided to bring it back.”
An example of one of the fun, positive activities that 4-H provides was the 4-H Youth Activities Council’s Halloween party on October 28. With a good turnout of 4-H Members in grades K-5th, they had loads of fun dressing up in costumes and playing games.

Upcoming 4-H Activities
Tis the season for baking. Why not learn new baking techniques, try unique ingredients, while exploring our cultural connection to food? 4-H Families are invited to join our Cultural Baking Series on December 4, 11, and 18th via Zoom. There is no fee for this program, although families will need to purchase ingredients and supplies. During the series, you will learn to make: Swedish Crackers, Cornmeal Cranberry Cookies, and Helbeh (Middle Eastern Fenugreek Cake).
A 4-H Robotics Day at UW-Stout is being planned for December 6, 9:45 a.m.-2 p.m. All 4-H members grade 5-8 from Chippewa, Dunn, and Eau Claire Counties are invited to UW–Stout for a hands-on robotics adventure! Please register by November 28.
Dunn County 4-H is partnering with the Menomonie Theater Guild, as they host Dunn County 4-H'ers and their families for a production of White Christmas at the beautiful Mabel Tainter Theater on December 7. Dunn County 4-H is grateful to the Menomonie Theater Guild for graciously giving a 25% discount on tickets for 4-H families so they can experience a live theater production.
A Resume Writing Workshop will be held for 4-H youths in grades 8-12 on December 9 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. over Zoom. Learn the basics of how to prepare your documents to apply for an award, an internship, or a job. During the workshop, 4-H Educators will discuss how to properly write a resume and a cover letter. They will also give advice on how to request a letter of recommendation.
Another continued partnership with UW-Stout is Art U which is a collaboration between 4-H and the UW-Stout Ed Department. Starting in February, Art U will consist of 5 art classes that are to be open to all K-12 grade youth with sessions both virtually and in person depending on their age.

Featured Dunn County 4-H Club – Sand Creek Pipers
The Sand Creek Pipers is a 4-H Club in northern Dunn County in unincorporated Sand Creek. This club is unique because even though its members attend five different school districts, they are still able to gather for monthly meetings on the first Sunday of the month at 11:15 am at ZoHa Studio in Sand Creek at which they plan the many activities that the Sand Creek Pipers are involved in. These include a Club Tour (before fair/summer begins), helping with the Sand Creek Fall Fest, Pumpkin Patch, and Christmas Porch Pots/Swags. They also do several community service activities, including Valentine's cookie decorating and delivering to the community members, participating in Memorial Day Services, helping with the Fall Fest food stand and Sleigh Rides with Santa.
