There is a lot happening with Dunn County 4-H!

The Dunn County Fair was a huge success.  Much gratitude to all who helped make the fair run smoothly and a tremendous congratulations goes out to all our 4-H members who participated in the fair.  We know that you worked hard on your projects, and we are proud of your accomplishments.

Junior 4-H Softball League | Photo by Zac Rozmiarek

4-H Softball is still in full swing for the Senior League.  Junior League finished on July 20 at Little Elk Creek. During this softball season, these 4-H-ers have been keen to show good sportsmanship, learn about the game and improve their skills, but most of all to have a whole lot of fun.

Twice this summer, Dunn County 4-H had a booth at Menomonie Farmers’ Market with learning activities for children.  One of the most popular activities was the Fishing Game where the kids could practice casting and then identify the types of fish they caught.

Upcoming 4-H Activities

On August 5th, Dunn County 4-H will have a booth at the Ridgeland Farmers’ Market from 4-7 p.m.  At it, we will have fun activities and games about spinning where kids can play battling tops, fly gliders and spinners and try to make a giant top that they can climb in to spin.  There will also be mandala painting for the older kids.  Come check out the booth to learn more about our 4-H programs.

You’re never too old to enjoy a game of kickball.  The Little Elk Creek 4-H Club is hosting a kickball game for all Dunn County 4-H members against their parents on Sunday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. at the Little Elk Creek Field. This ultimate kickball game will determine who will be the Kickball Champions of 2025, the 4-H kids or their parents.  Directions from Menomonie are, take County Hwy J East of Menomonie about 4 miles turn onto 410th Ave. There should be a sign. The field is on the left.

It is a green flag for all Dunn County 4-H members who want to attend the third annual Night at the Races for free at the Red Cedar Speedway on Friday, August 15th.  We can’t thank the Red Cedar Speedway enough for generously providing free admission to all our 4-H members.  At the speedway on the 15th, we will have a pre-race party starting at 5:00 p.m. with food, lawn games and activities for the kids.  During the race, we will sit in our own section and have the honor of going on to the infield to recite the 4-H Pledge.
