David L. O'Connell

David Leroy O’Connell, age 63, of Menomonie, WI, passed away on May 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 2, 1963, to Theresa (Asher) O’Connell and Francis “Dempsey” O’Connell and was raised in Boyceville, WI.

David was hard worker, taking pride in a job well done, his lifelong career was fixing things~ He worked as a vegetable harvester technician for Pixall in Clear Lake, WI before becoming an HVAC technician, and later a boiler operator at UW–Stout.

David was self-sufficient including gardening and canning his own vegetables, cutting firewood, and using his wood stove. He could fix just about anything and was known as a problem-solver.

David is survived by his children, Lacy O’Connell, Patrick O’Connell, and Trystin O’Connell (Kenzie Van De Walker); along with siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and his best friend.

David will be remembered as a hardworking and resilient man who took pride in fixing things and living simply. When the work was done, he enjoyed being outdoors, four wheeling, coon hunting, and relaxing with a good western.

In keeping with David’s wishes, no services will be held.
