Daryl "Duke" G. Davis



Daryl "Duke" Gene Davis, age 88 of Menomonie, WI passed away on Monday, May 5th, 2025, while surrounded by his family and friends.


He was born In Fort Snelling MN, on November 8th, 1936, to Joseph Davis and Ida "Mcintyre" Davis. Joseph was killed in the Philippines while serving in the Army. Ida later married Elmer Mickelson. Duke graduated from Menomonie High School in 1954. He joined the Air Force right after graduation until 1958. He served overseas in the Philippines like his father did.


Duke married Jean "Steinmeyer" Davis in 1955 and later divorced. They had two children Duane "Duey" Davis and Troy Davis.


Duke started working for "The Dunn County Reminder" in 1966 and purchased this business in 1969. After the sale of "The Dunn County Reminder" he moved to Hayward and purchased "The Cruz 'In" tavern. He later moved back to Menomonie, WI where he resided until his death.


Duke always enjoyed the company of his Schnauzers, hunting, fishing, golf, restoring classic cars and being around friends and family. He also enjoyed having coffee in the mornings with his brother, sister-in-law and friends.


Duke is survived by his sons Duane (Kim) Davis and Troy Davis, granddaughter Kylee (Reuben) Riek, sister Marilyn (Eldon) Stevens, sister-in-law Laila Davis, many cousins, nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Davis, Ida Mickelson, Elmer Mickelson, and his brother Richard Davis.


Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Duke's life on Monday, May 19th, 2025 at Olson Funeral Home, Menomonie, WI from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
