Darla Mae Almsted (née Kincade), age 63, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on November 21, 2025, in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Born on January 7, 1962, in Redmond, Oregon, Darla was the only daughter of Dorothy and the late Walter Kincade. She grew up surrounded by a large family that included her brothers Jerry (Jeannine), Darren (Victoria), Monte, and Jason (Sharon) Kincade. Throughout her life, Darla remained deeply connected to her roots and cherished the bonds she shared with her siblings and extended family.
Darla was a devoted wife to Joel Almsted and a loving mother to Lukas Montgomery (Amanda), Anthony Kincade, and step-son Joey Almsted (Molly). Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy. Affectionately known as “Grams-ma-sams” and “Gramma Cracker” by her grandchildren—Rachael (Nathan Corr) Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, Philip Montgomery, Phoebe Montgomery, Penelope Montgomery, and Corbin Kincade—Darla embraced every moment spent with them. Her love extended to her great-grandson Lincoln Corr, whose presence added another layer of happiness to her life.
Family was at the heart of everything Darla did. She found great joy in visiting loved ones near and far and made it a priority to stay connected across generations. Whether it was through heartfelt conversations or shared laughter during family gatherings, Darla’s warmth left a lasting impression on those around her. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
Darla found strength and community through her faith as an active attendee of Menomonie Alliance Church.
Darla Mae Almsted’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her compassion, humor, and unwavering love for family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A service will be held on December 6, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Menomonie Alliance Church with Pastor James Cameron officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a meal following the service.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the Adoray Hospice team, especially Nurse Jen and Chaplain Richard among others, who provided Darla and her family with great comfort during their visits.
