Daniel R. Dean, age 61, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at The Neighbors of Dunn County after a long battle with cancer.


Daniel was born on September 14, 1964, at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Marshall and Karen (Van Dinter) Rester. He lived in several places while growing up before settling in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Appleton West High School in 1984.


Daniel attended Fox Valley Technical College, where he earned an Associate of Science degree in Electronics Technology. He later became a truck driver and enjoyed driving and traveling.


Daniel married Linda Lund on March 15, 1986, at Grace Lutheran Church in Appleton. Together they had one child. Daniel enjoyed fishing, brewing beer, and ham radio. His first call sign was N9RCH, and his later call sign was KD9IKZ.


Dan was known for his strong work ethic, technical skills, and quick mind. He had a great sense of humor and formed lasting friendships throughout his life. Despite facing health challenges, Dan showed remarkable strength and perseverance.


Daniel is survived by his wife, Linda, of Menomonie; his daughter, Kayla; his sister, Michelle (Rester) Nava of La Verne, California; and his brothers, Steve Rester, Joey Rester, and Gary Rester. He is further survived by two nieces Lenora Rose, and Gabby Nava and nephew Anthony Joseph.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Karen; his sister, Renee; and two special friends, Midnight Pete and Abraham, both beloved Black Labs.
