Brian M. Husby

Brian Michael Husby, age 72, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Brian was born on August 26, 1953, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Ronald E. Husby and Margaret “Riley” E. Jones. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1971.

Following high school, Brian attended the University of Wisconsin–Stout, where he earned a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation and later obtained his Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. He began his career at the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute in 1980. In 1994, Brian joined MAI Genesis, where he worked as a Human Resource Manager before transitioning into sales. He remained with the company until his retirement in 2020. Brian truly enjoyed working with farmers and businesses while promoting animal health products throughout his career at MAI Genesis.

While working at UW–Stout, Brian met the love of his life, Caren Frank. The two were married on February 11, 1989, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie.

Brian was known for his kindness, generosity, and ability to make friends wherever he went. Brian enjoyed fishing, pheasant and deer hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors. Brian “Poppy” loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. Brian loved going for boat rides around Tainter Lake and surrounding himself with family and friends. Brian was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Badgers, and Brewers!

Brian will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Caren Husby of Menomonie; his three daughters, Kara Husby, Kelsey (Justin) Larson, and Riley (Ben) Haulfmann; his beloved grandchildren, Layla, Olivia, and Zella Larson, and Lucas and Hallie Haulfmann; his siblings, Sherry Phernetton, Brent (Sherri) Husby, and Scott (Mary) Husby; his mother-in-law, Mary Frank; and his sisters-in-law, Jamie (John) Lynch, Suzanne (Tom) Bilse, and Barbie Husby. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald E. Husby and Margaret “Riley” E. Husby; his father-in-law, Jacob Frank; his brother, Ronald “Butch” Husby; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Phernetton.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.
