Betty J. Hunter, age 95 passed away December 12, 2025 at the Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI.


Betty was born on July 24, 1930, in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, to Frank Wilk Sr. and Celia (Colburn) Wilk. She grew up in the Spring Valley area and graduated in 1949 from Spring Valley High School.


On February 2, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Neal Hunter Sr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Wisconsin. Together they raised five children.


Betty and Neal lived in Savanna, Illinois, for over 18 years before relocating to Menomonie, Wisconsin, in 1975. Betty worked as an assembly line worker at 3M Corporation and retired in 1995. Following the passing of her beloved husband, Betty chose to remain active and began working part-time at Kwik Trip, Inc. She greatly enjoyed her role as a demonstrator, especially treating UW–Stout students to sweets. Fondly nicknamed “Grandma Kwik Trip,” she was known and loved by students until her retirement at the age of 87.


Betty was a devoted and active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie from 1975 onward.


She is survived by her children: Barbara Pierson of Freeport, Illinois; Richard (Donna) Hunter of Rockford, Illinois; and Christine (David) Ryan of Wilson, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Kathy Hunter of Maquoketa, Iowa; and sister-in-law Darlene Wilk of Menomonie, Wisconsin.


She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Ryan (Brenda) Pierson, David (Allison) Pierson, Chad (Mary) Hunter, Amy (Louis) Sola, Brook (Virginia) Hunter, Amber (Matt) Schouten, and Jeremy (Morgan) Hunter; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Emma, Ella, Lane, Reid, Ethan, Riley, Chase, Lyric, Cole, Myles, Grace, James, Clare, Rhonna, and Eddy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, as well as her three special grand-dogs: Coco, Abbie, and Lola.


Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Celia Wilk; her parents-in-law, Harold and Gertrude Hunter; her husband, Neal Hunter Sr.; her brothers, Frank Wilk Jr., Harold Wilk, and Gerald Wilk; her sons, Neal Hunter Jr. and Russell Hunter; her son-in-law, Dennis Pierson; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hunter; and her daughter’s beloved black lab, Hunter.

Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie, WI with Father John Mano officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in the Town of Springfield, St. Croix County, WI.
