Barbara A. Hellmann

Updated: May 19

Barbara “Barb” Ann Hellmann (80) of Boyceville was welcomed into the Lord’s Kingdom on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, with an abundance of family by her side. She was a blessed woman who was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Barb was born to Rolland and Florence (Lien) Quarderer on October 27th, 1944. She graduated from Boyceville High School in 1962, then went on to become a beautician. Barb met the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” Hellmann, at the Barron County Fair in the summer of 1964, and the couple was married at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Almena, WI on June 19th, 1965. They were approaching 60 years of marriage together, loving and supporting each other while raising their five boys on the generational family farm in the Sheridan Township of rural Wisconsin. She was a woman of deep faith, and she and Joe were members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Boyceville, WI, for 58 years.

Barb continued to work as a beautician after marriage while being a full-time mother, homemaker, and farmwife. She then went on to work for the Boyceville School District in the Food Service Department from 1984-2010. After retiring, Barb spent most of her free time being a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, baking, crafting, and sewing. Any new or trending craft, Barb knew how to do it. She was especially talented at making dish scrubbies, quilts, and macrame Rosaries. She shared all these talents with others as she was a member of St. Jessica’s Circle, Bulldog Booster Club, and St. Luke's Choir.

Family meant the world to Barb, and time spent with them was one thing she cherished most. Going to Grandma’s house, for the grandchildren and their friends, was filled with love and laughter, cosmic brownies, playing ‘house’, and absolute chaos, which she embraced with a smile.

She is survived by her loving husband and life-long partner, Joseph "Joe" Hellmann. Her five dear children: Joe (Amy) Hellmann, John (Bethany) Hellmann, Jerry (Melissa) Hellmann, Nick (Angie) Hellmann, and Mark (Marla) Hellmann. Her beloved grandchildren: Andy Hellmann, Luke (Grace) Hellmann, and Sam (Kim) Hellmann. Kennedy (Nick) Newton and Peyton (Logan) Miller. Taylor Hellmann, Tyson (Audrey Scheel) Hellmann, and Jack (Haiden) Hellmann. Bryor (Natalie) Hellmann, Brooklyn (Austin) Sandow, and Carolin Buerger (German foreign exchange bonus grandchild). Her sister, Debb (Ron) Kistner; sisters in-law: Florence Gangelhoff and Sue Hellmann; brother-in-law, Wayne (Sandra) Roux. Ten great-grandchildren with two on the way. Many nieces and nephews and endless other close relatives and friends.

She is greeted in heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; her parents, Rolland and Florence (Lien) Quarderer; grandson, Matthew Hellmann; great-grandson, Michael Hellmann; parents-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Hellmann; siblings, Rolland “Sonny” Quarderer; several brothers and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and numerous lifelong friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Boyceville, WI, with Father John Mano officiating and special words spoken by Pastor Brad Peterson. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 10:00 am to noon at the church. Burial will be at Tiffany Cemetery in Boyceville, WI, followed by a luncheon in the church dining hall.
