August "Augie" C. Drier

August “Augie” Charles Drier, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and brother. Augie was born on June 15, 1940, in Eau Claire, WI to Charles and Mary Drier. Augie graduated from Durand High School in 1958. After graduation, Augie enlisted in the Navy and served for two years.

Augie met the love of his life – Jean Ann Steves – in high school and they were married on April 27th, 1963, and lived in the city of Durand until they moved to their country home and continued to add to their family. Augie was a man who truly loved life. A natural-born salesman, he spent his career connecting with people through his work with Watkins products, oil products, and livestock feed. But beyond his professional life, Augie’s true passions lay in the great outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish and found peace and joy spending time in the woods or tending to his garden. (That is his 2-acre garden because who doesn’t need 50 tomato plants and an acre of green beans and cucumbers. And the year with the bumper pumpkin crop is a story for another day.) Being a man of many talents, he also spent time working on the camper, convertible, boat and pontoon to experience life with Jean Ann.

Augie had a gift for optimism—he was always looking at the bright side of things. With a warm smile and an open heart, Augie never met a stranger. His kindness, enthusiasm, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Augie was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Drier, brother Lyle Drier, niece Kathy (Drier) Mayer, sister-in-law Marion (Chilson) Drier and brothers-in-law Milan (Mike) Huley and Thomas Hanson and parents-in-law Vincent and Rosella Steves (Cowell).

Augie is survived by his wife Jean Ann. Children Monique (Scott) Drier-Sutton, Heather (Dana) Drier, Thane (Tracy) Drier and Theron (Stephanie) Drier. Grandchildren Savannah, Treigh, Tristan, Caden, Thade, Nayla and Morgan. Great grandson Joseph. Sisters Mary Jane Krantz and Doris (Lindsey) Hinck. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to call him family and friend.

A memorial service to celebrate Augie’s life will be held on May 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Ellison officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care team at Plum City Care Center for the remarkable care and compassion they provided.

May Augie rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments.
