Annette E. Nelson, 80, of Menomonie, WI passed away of unexpectedly of natural causes at her home Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Annette was born November 18, 1945 in Menomonie, WI to William and Julia (Kirby) Werner. She grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1963.

After many years, she retired from her work at the Menomonie School District. In retirement she found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved making cards and quilting. She took pride in the beautiful quilts she created over the years, especially for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great nieces and nephews. In her younger years she also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and was always ready for a good game of cribbage. Above all, her greatest happiness came from time spent with family and friends. She had many, many dear friends she enjoyed quilting with, quilt shop-hopping and meeting for lunch or dinner for a “burger and blab."

Annette is survived by three daughters Lauri (Michael) Rothbauer of Colfax, Tracey Wold of Menomonie, and Tammy (Gordie) Meyer of Kailua, Hawaii. Grandchildren Amanda (Scott) Jensen of New Hope, MN, Brittany (Sawyer) DeMoe of Colfax, Trevor Rothbauer (fiancé Abby Curry) of Colfax, Morgan Wold of Menomonie, and James and Noah Meyer of Kailua, Hawaii. Great Grandchildren Shay and Avery Jensen, and Harper, Gentry, and new Grand Baby DeMoe, expected this summer. Sisters JoAnne Hestekin of Durand, Linda (Rick) Garfield of Elmwood, Bonnie (Roger) Timm of Wilson, Kathy Aamodt of Spring Valley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and several life-long friends.
