At their meeting on August 19th, the City Council decided to make no changes to Main Street if, in the future, Highway 29 relocates from Main Street to 6th Street. City staff have been in discussions with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to possibly transfer Highway 29 to 6th Street to reduce truck traffic on Main Street. The change would allow the city flexibility on the configuration of Main Street. Possible options included converting the 300 block of Main Street

Jack Drout, a 2024 MHS graduate, has been selected to receive a Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame Scholarship. Jack was one of eight student athletes throughout the State of Wisconsin to win this award. Awards were presented at the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association's Annual Meeting held in Stevens Point on August 3rd. Jack will be attending the University of North Dakota to study commercial aviation. Jack is the son of Brad and Keila Drout.

Emmer Shields was sworn in as a police officer for the Menomonie Police Department on Friday, August 16th. During his ceremony, he received badge #139. Gail Everts, one of the previous officers to wear badge #139, pinned the badge onto Emmer while being sworn in. At the City Council meeting on May 20th, Anthony Witkowski from Xcel Energy gave a short presentation on the upcoming Hydro Abutment Stabilization Project at the hydroelectric dam on the Red Cedar River.
