Yvonne Claudette Fiedler, the beloved matriarch of the Fiedler family, passed away on January 25, 2026, surrounded by three generations of loved ones. She was 90 years old and spent every day of her life in devoted service to others, loving unconditionally and without pause.
Yvonne was born on May 27, 1935, to Georgia Lauretta Hintz (Rice) and Walter Robert Hintz. She was reared on her family’s farm, an upbringing that shaped her lifelong strength, resilience, and extraordinary work ethic. That same spirit of service defined every chapter of her life, especially her enduring partnership with the love of her life, Ross Allan Fiedler. The two met while attending Osseo High School and were married on September 3, 1960. Their marriage marked the beginning of a remarkable life together—full of adventure, laughter, and a growing family that was endlessly fortunate to have them leading the way.
When Ross was diagnosed with diabetes, Yvonne met the challenge with unwavering devotion, caring for him meticulously for decades—often despite his good-natured protests. There was no one more perfectly suited to care for Ross, and he never hesitated to express his gratitude for her tireless dedication. True to her nature, Yvonne never viewed her care as extraordinary; her humility was as genuine as her love was profound.
Yvonne found her greatest joy in helping others, nowhere more evident than in the way she loved and supported her children. She was the embodiment of a devoted mother—helping with paper routes on bitterly cold mornings, faithfully attending track meets, cross-country races, musicals, and field trips, and taking long drives simply to spend time together. She shared her favorite sports and teams with her family, and even on her final day, she could still be heard asking, “Isn’t there a game on tonight?” As a grandmother, Yvonne was nothing short of exceptional. Alongside Grandpa Ross, she traveled across the state to attend her grandchildren’s pageants, plays, musicals, operas, and milestone moments—including visits to their new homes. No event was too small, no distance too far. Their love showed up in the form of loud cheering, unwavering presence, and a large camera always close at hand.
To Yvonne, family extended far beyond blood. She knew no strangers and had a remarkable gift for remembering even the smallest details about someone she had just met. With a memory like a steel trap and a heart wide open, she made everyone feel seen, valued, and special. Her home was always open—to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a warm meal, a lively card game, or a sense of belonging. Sooner or later, you could expect a phone call from her cheerful voice asking, “So, what do you know?”
Yvonne is survived by her siblings Gary (Dorothy) Hintz, Robert Hintz, Linda (Hintz) Venanzi, and sister-in-law Kay VonGruzis. She is also survived by her children Kevin Fiedler, Yvette Fiedler, Kelli Fiedler and his wife Tammy (Barron) Fiedler, and Kerri Fiedler. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Kenn Fiedler, Elissa Stephens, Ian Mechaca, Karmen Fiedler and Sinisha Daljevic, Kameron Fiedler, Preston Koepke and Samantha (Kuck) Koepke, Karynna (Fiedler) Scheich and Jake Scheich, Parker Koepke, Karis Fiedler and Nick Geffers, Kolton Fiedler, and Kianna Fiedler. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren Paul, Louisa, and Eli Koepke (children of Preston and Samantha), and Lance Scheich (son of Karynna and Jake).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ross Fiedler; her parents Georgia and Walter Hintz; her brother Alan Hintz; her brother-in-law Ivars VonGruzis; her brother-in-law Edward Venanzi; her daughter-in-law Karin Christine Fiedler; and her granddaughter Kamille Fiedler.
Yvonne was defined by the way she loved—limitlessly, selflessly, and without expectation. She never worried about herself and never met a stranger. It is impossible to fully capture a life lived with such generosity and grace, but one truth remains undeniable: there was no one more deeply loved or respected by all who had the honor of knowing her. Larger than life and even bigger in heart, Yvonne’s presence will never fade. As evidenced by the family who surrounded her in her final moments, she will never be forgotten and will be forever missed.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Lon Fiedler officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Pine Glen Cemetery at a later date.
