William "Bill" J. Krueger


William “Bill” J. Krueger, age 80 of Knapp, WI passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. Bill was a fighter, he battled many cancers over the years but unfortunately he wasn’t able to beat the fourth cancer.


He was born on July 22, 1944 in Edgeley, ND to his parents Leonard and Edith (Malm) Krueger. He grew up in Jud, ND and graduated from Jud High School in 1961. In 1962 Bill entered the Army and continued serving with the National Guard. He graduated from NDSU.


Bill married Betty Lou Weigel March 11, 1965 together they had one child Rebecca Krueger Brooke of River Falls, WI. The union dissolved.


He was a member of Wilson Lutheran Church, in Wilson, WI. He was an active member of his community serving on many boards over the years including Wisconsin Farmers Union Coop, Cenex, Wilson Lutheran Church, Masons, Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the American Legion.


Bill had a passion for farming. He was a successful cattle and crop farmer. He also owned two newspapers: Washington County Bulletin and The Woodbury Bulletin.


Bill is survived by his only child Rebecca (Krueger) Brooke of River Falls, WI and brother Daniel (Patricia) Krueger of St. Charles, MN; brother-in-law James Thom in Minot, ND. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, business associates, and the many people he mentored.


He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Edith; sister Patricia (James) Thom of Minot, ND.


Memorials can be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.


A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Wilson Lutheran Church in Wilson, WI with Pastor Bob Dahm officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Wilson Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Cady, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. A full meal will be served following the burial.
