Shirley Henrietta Faber, age 69 of rural Colfax Wisconsin, peacefully passed away from pancreatic cancer at home with her family by her side on Thursday, April 23rd 2026.

Shirley was born on August 10, 1956 in Park Falls Wisconsin to Henry and Rose Ann (Kundinger) Weinberger on “paper mill payday.” Shirley was the third of four daughters to grow up on Lakeshore Drive in the beautiful Northwoods of Park Falls and Butternut, Wisconsin. She attended grades one through eight at St. Anthony’s Grade School and graduated with the class of 1974 from Lincoln High School. Shirley felt so fortunate to grow up in a close-knit community with so many relatives and friends. It was a very special time in her life and she always felt a special bond with her “roots” and enjoyed visiting there often.

Shirley attended UW-Eau Claire for one year. She married Robert Faber on September 6, 1975 in Park Falls, Wisconsin and they lived their entire married life in the western Wisconsin communities of Wilson, Menomonie, and Colfax. Shirley worked as a secretary at UW-Stout for 3 years before the birth of their daughter, Paula. She then became a stay-at-home Mom and a son, Ryan, was welcomed two years later. Paula and Ryan brought so much joy and delight to Shirley. She took great pride in their accomplishments and the outstanding adults they had become. Shirley returned to part-time work at UW-Stout after ten years at home and then eventually at the Menomonie School District for 29 years with the last 22 years as the district office receptionist. She took great pride in representing the school district and made many wonderful friends with the staff and community. She retired in April 2020.

Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, sending cards and letters, mowing the lawn, bicycling, reading, assembling online photo books, listening to music, visiting with neighbors, and playing cards. She and Bobby were part of a “500” card club for 40+ years and had many fun times with a special group of friends. She also loved watching and attending sporting events. The Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Menomonie Mustangs, Rosemount Irish and Cottage Grove Wolfpack were her favorite teams.

Shirley and Robert enjoyed camping during the years their family was growing up. They later became frequent travelers with tour groups and visited many areas of the USA and Costa Rica, Holland, Nova Scotia, and the Canadian Rockies. They sustained many friendships from these trips and always enjoyed the fun times.

Shirley was a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren. She had the privilege to spend a lot of time with them as they were growing up. Many fun times were spent at their homes, at the ball fields or gyms, parks, cabins, or wherever they were brought together. Although Shirley will not be able to witness their adulthood, she is hopeful they remember all of the good times and carry many fond memories forever.

Shirley would like to be remembered as having been a loving, kind, and organized person. One of her favorite quotes was by Leo Buscaglia and summed up how she tried to treat others with respect and consideration – “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert, of 50 years; daughter, Paula (Jon) Price and their children, Colin and Anna of Inver Grove Heights, MN; son, Ryan (Jamie) Faber and their children, Peyton and Charlotte of Cottage Grove, MN; three sisters, Sally (Rick) Jaglinski; Mary Weinberger (Howard Glick); and Nancy (Dennis) Liebelt; brothers-in-law, David (Arlene) Faber, Ron (Doris) Faber, Doug Faber, Allan (Tammy) Faber, Don (Carol) Bergelin; 17 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rose Ann Weinberger, maternal grandparents Frank and Frances (Kronberger) Kundinger, paternal grandparents, John and Anna (Ernst) Weinberger, and numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI and one hour prior to the service at the church.
