The next Community Conversations is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the Menomonie Public Library.
The topic will be Grassroots Organizing. Our presenters are from Grass Roots Organizing Western Wisconsin (GROWW).
GROWW’s Housing Justice team will tell their story of how they organized their community into local action. From “Grassroots School” to canvassing and research to crafting legislation and passing an ordinance, they will share their journey and key insights for others to learn from.
They will also share some background on GROWW, a community organization based in western Wisconsin, and explain the key components of Menomonie SHIELD, the city ordinance they helped pass in February.
Attendees will also hear from a campaign participant who will share their personal story on what working with Housing Justice has meant to them. There will be time for questions and to hear about upcoming opportunities to get involved with local organizing.
This presentation has been coordinated by Steve Hogseth.
All are welcome to attend this conversation.
Community Conversations is a local nonpartisan group started in 2015 to discuss topics that affect our community. Presentations include speakers and videos, followed by conversations afterward about issues affecting the local community and Western Wisconsin.
