SDMA Transportation Advisory

The following information was sent in an email yesterday (May 11th) to families in the school district by Superintendent Joe Zydowsky.

It was reported today that while waiting at a rural bus stop this morning, a student from the SDMA was offered a ride to school from someone they did not know. The student refused the ride and was safely delivered to school on the bus without further incident. This situation was immediately reported to law enforcement so it can be investigated and followed up on as necessary.

There is some uncertainty as to the intentions and exact circumstances of this situation, but now is a good time to remind children not to accept rides with people they do not know. Other suggestions shared with the school district were to advise students to wait at bus stops in groups and for parents to monitor bus drop offs and pickups whenever possible.
