This summer is going to be FUN-tastic! We're starting some new programs and a really cool club in which young people can feel they belong. And we're going beyond theater, to give kids unique opportunities to grow social and emotional skills and to build community and belonging in their lives!

From the Red Cedar Youth Stage Facebook page:

Location for all three is currently the Wakanda Park Lion's Pavilion, an indoor facility with ample outdoor space, an on-site kitchen, running water and restrooms. There are alternative facilities in discussion, but those facilities are all in Menomonie city limits.

Performances for Summer Stage & Screen's production will be held on Friday July 22 and Saturday July 23. The play will be a one act comedy which has not yet been determined. Our goal is to provide a play that will give each camper a chance to have their own "steal the stage" moment.

The focus at ReCYS has shifted since the pandemic. More than ever our focus is the experience. Kids need to belong, build community and navigate social connections. Our effort and energy is concentrated more on the process and less on the pressure of staging a technically impressive performance. Our goals are now, and have always been:

1. Learn Something! 2. Have Fun! 3. Perform With Passion!

While ReCYS was originally founded as a youth theater company, after the pandemic, our vision now is to empower all kids by teaching them to build lives of creativity, confidence, collaboration, community and compassion. While theater activities, techniques and principles are used in most of our programs, any program that does not expressly refer to acting instruction or performances IS NOT theatrical in focus.

All programs and camps are directed by Blaine Halverson. This is Blaine's fourteenth summer of offering camps and programs. Blaine has directed more than 50 plays over the last twenty years.

He also currently directs the fall play at Menomonie High School. For the last six years he has worked in Special Education at River Heights Elementary School.

Throughout the years, Blaine has developed a powerful program, that teaches teens how to mentor younger kids. Each program Blaine directs is also staffed by 3-6 (or more) dedicated, talented teens serving their young proteges.

There are limited scholarships available for families who may not be able to afford tuition. Please contact us if you need further information.

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to email. Or if you'd like to meet with Blaine or talk on the phone or via video conference, please let us know.
