The Dunn County Highway Department will be hard at work keeping our roads safe and maintaining passable roadways during a snow event.
Dunn County Highway maintains all County roadways and contracts with WisDOT for plowing and maintenance operations on state highways. Town roads and City/Village roadways are maintained by local municipalities and Dunn County Highway is not responsible for the plowing operations of these particular roadways.
County roads such as (CTH A, B, C etc.) are considered 14-hour service roads and are typically maintained from 4 AM to 6 PM. Dunn County operations are to maintain passable roadways and to limit the amount of snowpack and drifting as much as possible. County roadways utilize sand mixtures for traction and are not expected to be free of snow and ice.
State roads such as (I94, STH 29 (4 Lanes), and USH 12 Alternate Route are considered 24-hour service roads and will be maintained as such for the duration of the storm event. All other state roadways, such as (STH 25, 29, 40, 64, 72, 79, 85, & 170) are 18-hour service roads and are typically maintained from 4 AM to 10 PM with plowing operations during a snow event. The Dunn County Highway Department follows standard operating procedures outlined in the Winter Maintenance Manual provided by WisDOT for road expectations.
