Notes for the Week of January 27th

This is not local, but I ran across a GoFundMe for Ashley Lien, the ex-wife of former Altoona School Superintendent Dan Peggs. She is now a single mother of four little girls under the age of 10. Earlier this month she was diagnosed with Stage 3C1Cervical Cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. A link to the GoFundMe with more information can be found here.

There are skates available for use down at the skating rink by Wolske Bay Island. This is different than the Christmas Miracle Winter Wonderland.

Pinewood Golf Club has an indoor golf simulator. Call the club house to reserve a time (715)235-2900.

I was cleaning up some old posts and found some that are worth sharing again.

Health Dunn Right has a wonderful website. Check it out for lots of great local information. Be sure to take a look at their Online Community Resource Guide. Health Dunn Right also produces a monthly newsletter that focuses on Air Quality, Sustainability, Water Quality, and Events within Dunn County. You can sign up for that newsletter here.

The Air Quality Index is used to warn the public when air pollution levels are unsafe. Sign up to receive air quality alerts and watch for orange level alerts or higher, which means unsafe air for people with heart or lung diseases, older adults, kids and teens. The link to sign up can be found here.

If you have not yet seen the Iron Knight Documentary, you can watch it here on YouTube. The Iron Knight, or the Tin Man as he is commonly referred to, has become a legend around town. Here is your chance to learn more about him.

There is a website, Findhelp.org, that can help those in need quickly and easily find assistance. Enter your zip code to find food assistance, help paying bills, and other free or reduced cost programs in the Menomonie area.
