Notes for the Week - 12/1

The Knapp Elves are once again delivering letters to the North Pole. Drop your letter to Santa (be sure to include your name & address) in the mailbox at the Knapp Pond Park near the East Pavilion.


The Winter Wonderland skating rink may be ready in a couple of weeks. They have begun flooding it and just need the weather to cooperate. They are always looking for volunteers to help out. Contact them at (715) 441-6898.

A Stout student is doing a research study is to determine the factors that influence the usage of transportation within Dunn County. He's looking to recruit either 2 or 3 participants to partake in an unstructured interview. This unstructured interview will ask the participants a series of questions related to the modes of transportation they use daily, specific advantages and disadvantages to these modes of transportation, if they are aware of any public transportation services offered within Dunn County, and if they are aware of the different modes of private transportation that are used within Dunn County. Those who are looking to participate must meet the criteria of using a mode of transportation daily and are within Menomonie. You can contact this student by email has tips for power outages: Take an inventory of the items you need that rely on electricity. Plan for batteries and other alternative power sources to meet your needs when the power goes out, such as a portable charger or power bank. Have flashlights for every household member. Determine whether your home phone will work in a power outage and how long battery backup will last. Check the website for more ideas.


The Foster Closet is still looking for some filler items for its Christmas program. They could use toys for children aged 2 and younger especially for the 6-to-18-month range, craft or robotics kits for 6- to 14-year-old kids, toothbrushes, travel size toothpastes, women's socks, gift cards for Walmart, Target, Game Stop, or McDonald's for the older kids. The Bridge to Hope is looking for pre-lit Christmas trees - used in good condition or new - and Christmas decorations. Call or email them at (715) 235-9074 or

Many members of the Ludington Guard Band play in the Chippewa Valley Band. They are having their Christmas concert this Sunday (12/4) at 2pm at the Masonic Center in Eau Claire, located at 616 Graham Avenue. Admission is free.
