Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical
Matilda is the story of an extraordinary little girl with extraordinary powers. The daughter of horrid self-centered parents, Matilda finds refuge in library books, which she reads quickly and creates her own stories. Things are no better at school, where Matilda also must face a tyrannical and cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Matilda finds companionship and comfort at school in her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey. Brave little Matilda knows she has to stand up against the adults in her world, and in doing so, discovers her own remarkable powers. We invite your whole family to join us at the Mabel Tainter Theater for this inspiring show featuring over thirty talented local actors. Directed by Katie Shay, this show will take place at the Mabel Tainter on the weekends of October 14-16, and 21-23, 2022.
Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley
Middle sister Mary finally takes center stage in this charming and clever sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. While comforted by the company of books and her piano, Mary has grown tired of her role as the dutiful daughter and dreams of forging a new path. When the Bennets gather at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darcy for the holidays, an unexpected encounter brings about the possibility of an intellectual match and maybe even love for Mary. This enchanting romantic comedy promises to captivate long-time fans of Jane Austen and newcomers alike. Directed by the fabulous Anna Mae Tempus, this show will take place at the Mabel Tainter Theater on the weekends of December 2 - 4, and 9 - 11, 2022.
This charming show is a tale about love and longing, friendship and isolation, melancholy and hope. The setting is a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter in the mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. The nine short, and sometimes quirky, vignettes all have a fable-like quality and the sweet simplicity of stories being told around a campfire. Directed for MTG by talented newcomer Jared Robinson, the show will run the weekends of March 10 - 12, and March 17 - 19, 2023.
Set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done, the show is in equal measure hilarious and touching. With a cast of gossipy southern ladies at the core, this show highlights the sense of purpose and strength of character among the complexity of female relationships. It's the PERFECT show to bring your mom, daughter, gal pals, or any other special woman in your life! Directed for MTG by the extraordinary Carol Diser-Ropella, the show will run on the weekends of May 5 - 7 and May 12 -14, 2023.
