Catalytic converter theft has been on the rise in Menomonie recently.
The precious metals used in catalytic converters make them valuable. Thieves will target certain vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius, because they have catalytic converters with higher amounts of the precious metals.
The Menomonie Police Department put together a video where Detective Lieutenant Matt Benrud explains the rise in thefts and shares theft prevention tips.
