MHS Theatre Presents She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition - opens November 6th

Menomonie High School Theatre’s fall production, She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition, opens Thursday, November 6, at 7 p.m. Additional performances will be held Friday, November 7, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, November 8, at 2 p.m., in the MHS auditorium.

Tickets are $5 and available at the door. The production features fog machines and special lighting effects. Parental guidance is recommended.

She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition is a dramatic comedy by Qui Nguyen that tells the story of Agnes Evans, an ordinary girl leading an ordinary life—until she suddenly wishes for something a little less boring. That wish takes a tragic turn when her family, including her younger sister Tilly, dies in a car crash.

Agnes and Tilly were never close; they lived in different worlds. Agnes was drawn to mainstream pop culture, while Tilly was a proud “geek,” passionate about all things fantasy—especially Dungeons & Dragons. While cleaning out Tilly’s room, Agnes discovers a D&D module her sister had written. Hoping to understand the sister she never truly knew, Agnes enlists the help of Dungeon Master Chuck and begins playing through the game Tilly created.

As Agnes ventures deeper into the story, the line between fantasy and reality blurs. Through battling monsters and navigating quests, she begins to uncover the vibrant, complex world her sister built—and learns just how much of Tilly’s spirit she had overlooked in real life.
