“Where’s the Local News – Chapter two?” is the topic for a second strategy session on improving community access to information about local issues and events set for Wednesday, March 22, 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Menomonie City Council chambers, 800 Wilson Avenue, Menomonie.
Once again, the facilitator is Bruce Siebold, long-time Menomonie resident and owner of Rusk Prairie Consulting Group. Siebold led the first meeting on the topic at the Menomonie public library in February. At the March meeting, he will be joined by individuals and businesses who maintain online or print publications. A “Call to Action” will invite attendees to join a specific interest group to continue the exploration process.
To date, the local “news conversation” group has:
Compiled a list of local news sources
Researched “news deserts” in our area and beyond
Identified and begun to cover gaps in local reporting with the help of citizen journalists
Those interested in attending in-person are asked to register at https://forms.gle/mbo9unBJbBJyiexa7
