High School Advanced Theater Classes Earn Awards

The Advanced Theatre Classes at the Menomonie High School earned three awards at the State One-Act Festival with their virtual performance of David Ives play All in the Timing.

"It was a unique experience to put together our One-Act with three separate virtual productions despite the challenges of quarantine and social distancing," said director and advisor Audric Buhr, "but the hard work and dedication paid off."

The cast earned several outstanding honors. William Webber was nominated for an Outstanding Actor Award. The Advanced Theatre Production and Design class, which consisted of Abbie Aasen, Kalee Hoyt, Kelsie Macke, Kira Nevin, Nikki Nohava, Angelo Schumacher, and Sam Wurm, was nominated for an Outstanding Crew Award.

It takes at least two nominations to receive an award, and Menomonie High School Theatre earned three awards. Carson Buhr received an Outstanding Actor Award, the entire ensemble, which consisted of Carson Buhr, Matthew Glaus, Grace Hasse, Stella Kostuch, and William Webber, received an Outstanding Ensemble Award and Mr. Buhr received an Outstanding Director Award.

"The cast worked through so many challenges this season, reinventing the show multiple times to get to perform at the state level," continued Buhr. "They did this by transitioning from a staged-streamed play to an individual Zoom production, and finally with a new adaptation of the staged-streamed performance."
