Grand reopening scheduled for National Donut Day, June 2nd

Donut Sam’s will be closed from Friday, May 26th through Thursday, June 1st, while they move to a new larger location at 1502 9th Street, near Dick’s Fresh Market. They will have a grand reopening on National Donut Day - Friday, June 2nd.
“With the bigger store and bigger kitchen, we can employ more special needs adults,” said Lisa White, manager of Donut Sam’s. “Right now, we have room for three in the kitchen, and that is a bit tight sometimes.”
In addition to being able to add more staff, the move will allow them to add more items to the menu. Bakery items such as fresh breads, cupcakes, cookies, and cakes will be on the expanded menu.
“At some point in the near future, we will be adding breakfast items and eventually soups and sandwiches for lunch,” said White.
Hours will be expanding as well. Currently, they are open Tuesday through Saturday from 7am-12pm. At the new location, they will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 7am-2pm.
Donut Sam’s was opened in March 2020 by Mike and Tanya Husby, who wanted to provide gainful employment to individuals with special needs, like their son Sam who has Down Syndrome. In the spring of 2022, the Husbys moved away from Menomonie and sold the business to Indianhead Enterprises, a local non-profit.
Indianhead Enterprises continues the Husby’s vision, as its mission is to ensure that each member of our community can be employed and work at their full potential. Indianhead Enterprises provides work training to persons with various disabilities while creating positive employment opportunities for persons who experience barriers to employment.
