Community Update - March 5

The Duke and Dagger will be closing. Owners Andrew Mercil and Sifia Jevne made the announcement this week. Their last day of serving Menomonie will be Saturday, April 3rd. Until then, they are open Tuesday-Saturday from 4pm-9pm. Here is a link to a message they posted on Facebook.

Both the 4H and the Menomonie Recreation Department have job opportunities for young people this summer. The 4H is looking for help with their summer camps. Walmart is giving customers the opportunity to donate to the Girl Scouts during the month of March. Shoppers can round up their transactions on or via the app. These small donations can add up to make a BIG difference for our local Girl Scouts!

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Public Education Network are hosting a virtual Conversation with the Candidates for Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction. This conversation will take place on Thursday, March 11 at 6:30 pm via Zoom. Follow this link for more information and to register.

Dunn County Aging and Disability Resource Center is a wonderful resource for Dunn County. They share information about many valuable programs on their Facebook page. These aren't always for just the elderly and the disabled. Marshfield Clinic provides assistance with preparing advanced directives and is offering a free workshop. Information can be found here. Healthy Living with MCI: Legal & Financial Planning is an online event scheduled for March 27th via Zoom. Attendees will learn the importance of legal and financial planning, how to put plans in place, and legal and financial issues to consider. More information can be found here.

The Dunn County Veterans Service Office is asking veterans, military service members, members of the justice system, stakeholders and professionals working with veterans to complete a short survey as they work on a project to help veterans integrate into the community.
