Community Update - 4/9

A UPS Store will be opening this summer next to Dick's Fresh Market in the former Family Video location. Dick's Fresh Market, a family-owned chain of grocery stores, is opening the store. As the owners of the building, they wanted to use the space to open a business that would benefit the community. In addition to shipping, the store will offer a wide range of printing services and also take Amazon returns. More information will be posted as it becomes available.


The Mabel Tainter is in the process of rescheduling the shows scheduled in May. Show information will be updated on this site as it becomes available.


A vendor sale is taking place on Sunday, April 11th, from noon - 4pm at the River Prairie Center located at 1445 Front Porch Place in Altoona. Admission is free. Raffles will be happening throughout the afternoon, with all proceeds going to The Bridge to Hope. A flyer advertising the sale can be found by following this Facebook link.


The Dunn County Veterans Service office is part of a collaborative group creating a memorial for Dunn County Veterans. They have a location and a concept but are looking for someone with knowledge of graphic or artistic design to create a graphic. Those interested should send them an email at or call them at 715-232-1646.


National Healthcare Decisions Day is April 16th. This day aims to inspire, educate, and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.
