This year's homecoming celebration includes a special event thanks to the cooperative effort of several local organizations.
Chris Kroeze will be performing a concert after the MHS Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 22nd, at Wilson Park.
Kroeze was scheduled to perform at Let's Paint the Town on July 22nd, but the performance was rained out.
"We really appreciate Chris rescheduling the concert that we had to cancel," said Emilie Wiese, Let's Paint the Town committee member. "When we were looking for a time to get Chris back to Menomonie, Mayor Knaack suggested homecoming, and luckily Chris was available."
The homecoming parade is scheduled to start at 4 pm and will follow the same route as previous years (see map below). The concert will begin as soon as the parade has finished.
"Several food options will be available during the concert," said Sylvia Gengenbach, also with Let's Paint the Town. "We know the time between the parade and the game can be rushed, and we wanted people to have one less thing to worry about."
Food vendors will be onsite from 4 pm - 7 pm. Scheduled to be there are Topper's Pizza, Gordo's Tacos, C&J Candy Store with ice cream, and the Menomonie Lions Club will be grilling up brats and hotdogs (they will also have chips, water, and pop available).
This concert is free, and everyone is welcome. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket, as only a limited number of benches are available for seating.
Fans can meet the Mustang mascot and get Menomonie Mustang temporary tattoos before heading to the game at Williams Stadium. The Mustangs will be playing the Eau Claire North Huskies with kickoff at 7pm.
"We are thrilled that we could help add something special to this year's Homecoming," said Gengenbach. "This is a community event and has been a cooperative effort of Let's Paint the Town, the Menomonie School District, the City of Menomonie, and Downtown Menomonie."
Chris Kroeze's performance is sponsored by Kwik Trip.
Let's Paint the Town was started in 2021 to bring together the Menomonie community with arts, entertainment, and food. Mark your calendars for next summer's Let's Paint the Town event scheduled for July 20th.
