Bridging the Gap is a new video series in which the Menomonie Police Department and The Bridge to Hope partner to discuss pertinent topics with the goal of helping the community, increasing collaboration, and promoting safety.
This episode of Bridging the Gap covers the facts, myths and statistics surrounding sexual violence in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Myths that surround sexual abuse tend to blame the victim and can be barriers that prevent victims from seeking help. All of these myths attempt to excuse the behavior of the perpetrator and imply the perpetrator is not responsible for their actions.
