Congratulations to the cast and crew of Almost, Maine. Not only did Menomonie High School Advanced Theatre Classes make it to the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association State One-Act Play festival again this year, they truly were a force to be reckoned with! At the state festival, this group of students took home honors in several categories. They received the Ensemble Award given for the entire ensemble collaborating well and driving the effective pacing of the production. Skylar Jemillo, Tylee Rydberg, and Melaniya Zazovskaya received the Crew Award for their technical elements - communicating and enhancing the audience’s experience. Mr. Buhr received the Directing Award for the interpretation and staging of the production as cohesive and imaginative. Eleven students, yes that’s correct, ELEVEN from the cast were recognized for Outstanding Acting Awards for bringing authentic, memorable, and poignant characters to life on stage. Those who received a nomination for an Outstanding Acting Award were Matthew Glaus, Kadence Keck, Mascha Lemche, Isaiah May, Sofiya Ryshchuk, William Weber, and Melaniya Zazovskaya. Those who received an Outstanding Acting Award were Carson Buhr, Kalee Hoyt, Summer Schaefer, and Samuel Wurm. Finally, the cast and crew received the honor of the Critic’s Choice Award for representing the highest standards of excellence for innovative vision, authentic storytelling, and artistic development. What an accomplishment for our students and Theatre Program. It has been an honor to watch this group grow and work to reach this level. Job well done!

Thank you to Mr. Buhr for contributing this story to the Menomonie Minute.
