A Tough Loss Eliminates the Mustangs from the Playoffs

The Mustangs lost a close game to the Waunakee Warriors. The final score was 28-27.

The Mustangs were down 20-0 but a score right before the half put them on the board.

The Mustangs came out after half time and made a quick touchdown and cut the lead to 6. After an interception in the red zone by Gavin Exner, the Mustangs went down the field and quarterback Reed Styer ran the ball in for a touchdown giving Menomonie the lead 21-20. After a Waunakee touchdown and a two point conversion, Waunakee regained the lead. On Waunakee's next possession, Nick Haviland picked off a pass for Menomonie's second red zone interception.

Parker Schultz scored on a long 66 yard run. The Mustangs missed the point after leaving the score at Waunakee 28, Menomonie 27. The Mustangs recovered the onside kick for good field position but couldn't get the ball in the end zone. The Mustangs missed a 38 yard field goal attempt and Waunakee was able to run the clock out for the win.
